According to a recent Carbon Trust survey, Small to Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs), which represent 99 per cent of all businesses in the UK, are responsible for 20 per cent of the country’s total CO2 emissions. Phil Langley, Managing Director of Premier Watercoolers, believes that SME businesses and large corporations are missing an opportunity to reduce their carbon emissions, which is staring them right in the face every day of the working week.

2008 has not been a good year so far for the bottled water industry. MP Graham Springer called for a stop to the quarter of a million bottles of water purchased by the House of Commons; Environment Minister Phil Woolas condemned the bottled water industry on national TV, saying it bordered on being ‘morally unacceptable’; and Cabinet Secretary Gus O’Donnell sent a tap water policy order to all government departments, which will come into effect by the summer.

A Swindon water cooler company has announced a near doubling of its client base in the last 12 months, with customer numbers rising from 750 to more than 1,300. Premier Watercoolers, which fits filtered dispensers that provide chilled drinking water straight from a building's mains supply, claims the high growth is indicative of a shift away from traditional bottled water units. With 2006 turnover at £2m, the business is now expecting to turnover £3m for 2007 and has established its reputation as a high quality service provider in the competitive £200m water cooler market place.
