Premier Watercoolers given SAFEcontractor award
5 July 2007
Premier Watercoolers is one of the latest successful companies to join a leading-edge scheme designed to help industry improve its safety record.
The Swindon-based firm recently received accreditation from SAFEcontractor, a programme that recognises very high standards of health and safety practise among UK contractors.
Employing 40 people, Premier is one of the UK’s largest and fastest growing independent suppliers of mains fed water coolers in the UK and has clients ranging from government departments, hospitals and schools to blue chip and household name companies.
The company’s application for SAFEcontractor accreditation was driven by the need for a uniform standard across the business.
Phil Langley, managing director of Premier Watercoolers, said: “We are very pleased to have received this recognition for the safety work that we carry out in all aspects of our business.
“A lot of effort goes into ensuring robust practices for health and safety with regards to the equipment we use, through to installation and maintenance, as well as looking after all members of staff in-house.”
SAFEcontractor is operation by international safety, health and environmental risk management specialists, the National Britannia Group. The system is applicable to most sectors, although it is particularly relevant to food manufacturing, property, facilities management, retail and leisure services – all of which are significant users of contract services.
James Ostler, managing director of Information Service at National Britannia, said: “Major organisations can no longer run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove they have sound health and safety policies.
“More companies need to understand the importance of adopting food risk management in the way that Premier Watercoolers has done. The firms’ high standard has set an example, which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector.”
